“How alive are you in the present moment'” – You’re probably wondering where I am going with this! And you’re right to do so! In these modern days, we claim to have everything figured out yet how much have we as a human species really figured out? Once taking a closer look…not all too much it seems!
Return to the Present Moment & Become Best Friends With Your Consciousness.
To further bring light to this question I want to turn to the timeless wisdom of Eckhart Tolle. In his books “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth” he emphasizes the one truth there is: The importance of the Present Moment. So let me ask you this: How present are you when you experience something? How aware are you of your surroundings? How thoughtful do you engage your senses? And even more so, how conscious are you of your own being?
The Power of the Present Moment- The Power of NOW.
Now, the idea of the Power of the Now proposes the following. Whatever we experience in life can never not be the now. Every moment when it occurs is the present moment at the time when it occurs. Every past moment we keep dwelling on with depressive thoughts was in the moment it occurred the NOW. Every future moment we keep awaiting anxiously will be the NOW at the time it arises. What Tolle suggests is that we should invest our energy in bringing our focus back to the Presence at any given time since we won’t be able to attain an inner balance if continuously being engaged in the psychological concept of time.
Put in different terms, freeing ourselves from our attachment to past moments and future moments and accepting that the NOW is all we have will relieve us of a very heavy burden in life. Since reading Tolle’s books I have applied this mind concept and to say it has tremendously changed my life would be an understatement.
The Reward You Are Getting for Being in the Present Moment.
In a world that is dominated by self-inflicted diseases and that responds to same with reactive medication practices, we have to pose the question of what would be possible if we allowed our brilliant minds to look beyond the limitations we have set for ourselves. And suddenly, the idea of proactive health concepts and preventative medical practices seems to be more relevant than ever before. If focusing on the NOW holds the potential to take us out of our anxiety-inducing attachment to the psychological concept of the so-called “future time”, what else could we be capable of? And the answer to that is actually rather complex because the possibilities are almost endless. Now, tell me! Aren’t you curious about what lies beyond your own limitations? Aren’t you curious to unlock your true power?
I hope after reading this article you are!
