The intention with this article is to highlight some of the extraordinary inspirational women who have changed my life for the better. For that, I want to share a collection of female voices that have impacted me in the past and helped shape my way of life. They are the epitome of the saying, “She believed she could! So, she did!
My hope is that it can shape your way of life, too.
You Are More Than Enough.
The magnificent Elaine Welteroth made me realize that the true magic of life happens when you find yourself between your dreams realized. In this exact moment, when you are outgrowing your previous being and growing into your future self. The future will scare you yet the presence will not satisfy you any longer.
As she phrases it ‘When the world tells you to shrink, expand!’. So, you’ll find yourself moving towards what you fear because you realize it’s the only way to go!
Becoming Yourself Doesn’t Have A Finish Point.
Michelle Obama, my power lady of wisdom, reinforced my belief in me that life is not about reaching a finite point. Life is not about becoming something and being done with it!
She opened up the world to me by giving me permission to continuously shape my personality on my path of becoming the best possible human that I can become within a lifetime.
In my mind, Michelle Obama really showed me the potential of what we can become in life if we perceive ourselves as inspirational women!
Discomfort Is Where I Am Most Comfortable.
My no. 1 Girlboss Sophia Amoruso strengthened in me the understanding that I myself possess the skills & passion that I need in my life and it doesn’t need to be given to me. I don’t need anyone’s permission to live & breathe what I believe in. This can be a lonely journey when pushing through on a dream only you can see! She motivated me to further sharpen my ability to listen to my heart’s desires & pursue those dreams with unshakable determination.
I too want to be looked at and other girls and women will think, “She believed she could! So, she did!”
You Are A Badass.
What can I say? Every word Jen Sincero puts on paper is a pure feeling of aliveness. This powerful & inspirational women truly pushed me to challenge myself every single day without falling prey to the heavy saggy feeling of life trying to prevent me from growing.
She showed me how comparing yourself to others can leave you in a comfortable shell justifying to yourself how you’ve come far enough and settling down in ‘in-action’. However, holding yourself accountable to your own ambitions & to what YOU are capable of is a completely different story.
I chose to chase the latter and never looked back since.
Don’t Act Like Prey.
My conservation hero, Ocean Ramsey, has enriched my life by teaching me the variety of perspectives and interpretations that we encounter in life. Working with Ocean & her team as an activist for ocean conservation & shark protection, I have learned to fight for something greater than myself. I have understood how the outcome of a situation is dependent on your own communication skills.
If you communicate poorly underwater a shark will mistake you for his prey. If you communicate poorly in life the recipient will mistake you as his enemy.
Both situations arise from miscommunication.
The Audacity To Be Queen.
The final word within this scope belongs to Gina DeVee. Her words nurtured my skill to actively move away from gender stereotypes. Her fierce message pushed me in protecting my role in life without being dictated by society’s expectations and gender roles. She gave me the wings I knew I had but I sometimes couldn’t see! Thanks to her, my determination in fighting for what I believe I deserve has become a daily practice in my catalog of life skills. As she movingly phrases it ‘Don’t accept a half-lived life’. She instilled in me my ‘Queenhood’ which allows me to thrive in life on the masterful blend of both fierceness and nurturing care.
Become The Maiden That Kicks Everyone’s A**
Summing up this article, I want to share some final wisdom from the powerful documentary ‘Maiden’ about the first all-female crew to participate in the male-dominated Whitbread Round The World Yacht Race. If this isn’t inspirational women in action as its best, I don#t know what is. When the world is doubting you, that’s the moment when life is handing you the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grow beyond your own limitations. The question is are you going to take it?
And, for every Girl & Woman experiencing suppression, hate and violence let our collected voices be the force that moves mountains to build a World where these opportunities are freely given to everyone. “She believed she could! So, she did!”
